DECA is a national association of marketing students who share information, compete at a national level, and run the student store.

March 8, 2010:
 
Please join me in recognizing an outstanding effort by our DECA state finalist this weekend.  We took a small but dedicated group of  5 qualifiers to the state level event.  There were over 3000 students there from all over the state, each the top candidates from their chapter and region. 
 
Sophomore CC Okoro, sophomore Hank Droege, and junior Andy Boelter represented Garfield well with competitive rounds.  Seniors Abe Bui took first place first place in  Employment Acquisition - Office, and Melanie Truong in Employment Acquisition -  Restaurant.  Their 20 page portfolios were stellar, and their interviews were the best in their category.  They will both compete at the DECA international finals in Louisville, Kentucky, April 23-27.
